Ms. Katz grew up in Southern California, but now lives in Old Towne Orange. In her spare time, she plays with her orange cat (named Baby Kitty), and she heads up the municipal liaison for her area for National Novel Writing Month. This will be her third year to guide and mentor harried, exhausted writers through the process of writing an entire novel (at least 50,000
words) in the month of November.
She stated, “Before I knew how to read and write, I made up stories for my friends and told them like I was an old time story teller. I first started writing stories when I was in grade school. In Junior High I won an award for writing and my first fantasy story was published. I've been writing ever since.”
Ms. Katz has been published locally as well as in several fan fiction publications.
Ms. Katz has written two novels – one that is science fiction and another on classic fantasy. She has two more fantasy novels currently in progress along with numerous short stories and a small selection of free-verse poems.
Ms. Katz is certified in Writing for a Reason, Interpersonal Communication, College Writing, Introduction to Creative Writing, Intermediate Creative Writing, Survey of Children's Literature, Public Speaking, Introduction to Literature, Critical Reasoning and Writing, The Novel, Language Arts Tutor Practicum, and Physical Geography Class and Lab.
She tutored students for two years at Fullerton College (CA), and was the Course Developer and Instructor for Short Story Writing at A-1 Writing Academy, where she also acted as assistant to five other classes.
